Peer Counseling or Advocacy? Which one is right for me?
Peer
Counseling:
- Short-term support by a trained volunteer who offers help and support throughout your pregnancy
- Provides education and options counseling
- Educates clients on all the services and programs PSC offersConnects clients with helpful community referralsHelps clients work through the crisis phases of an unplanned pregnancy Assesses material needs
Assesses clients for Advocacy Program
Advocacy:
- Long-term support by a trained volunteer who offers help and support throughout your pregnancy.
- Assists clients in problem-solving, setting goals, and connecting her with helpful community resources Assists clients in preparing for baby’s birth and helps to establish a parenting plan for baby’s futureConnects clients with PSC services and programs
- Offers friendship and caring throughout pregnancy
